Founded in 2016, CGEC is the only government-run engineering college in North Bengal. Located on a green 20-acre rural campus, it offers five AICTE-approved B.Tech streams—CSE, ECE, EE, CE, and ME—with approved intake close to 54 per branch. Affiliated to MAKAUT and functioning under the West Bengal government, CGEC provides smart classrooms, workshops, computer labs (1:1 ratio), and a digital library with ~8,000 volumes. Placement rates typically range between 80–90%, with average packages near ₹6 LPA and highest placements up to ₹48 LPA at core and IT firms. The institute emphasizes academic rigor and student mentorship within a government framework and is rapidly evolving into a recognized public engineering setup in the region.
