Formerly Kanpur University, CSJMU is a state university established in 1966. Its University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), launched around 1996, offers B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, MCA, and Ph.D. programs under direct state university governance. UIET hosts departments in mechanical, chemical, computer, civil, and telecom engineering, supported by academic centres in cybersecurity, AI, and product design. Long-standing accreditation, NAAC A+ status, and central-hall research labs mark UIET’s public-institution legacy. Placement rates are stable with many students recruited into PSUs, government science labs, and IT firms; packages usually range ₹6–10 LPA. With a strong alumni base, legacy infrastructure, and research orientation, UIET remains a respected government-affiliated engineering campus in Kanpur.
