Jabalpur Engineering College, Jabalpur

Founded in July 1947, JEC is the second-oldest engineering college in India and the oldest in Central India. A government-funded autonomous institution affiliated with RGPV, JEC was the first in India to offer Electronics & Telecommunication engineering. Its campus spans 255 acres with landmark infrastructure including labs, an auditorium, hostels, sports complex, and even static displays of military equipment. JEC provides B.E. degrees in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, E&T, CSE, IT, Industrial & Production Engineering, and postgraduate programs in engineering and applied sciences. The placement cell supports campus placements for alumni, though average package figures are moderate (~₹4–4.5 LPA), reflecting regional recruiter participation. The college hosts annual Fest “Aureole” featuring cultural and technical events. JEC’s legacy, wide branch offerings, and status as a Central India flagship public engineering institute distinguish it among state colleges.
