Established in 1995 as a government-run institution in memory of the Maharaja of Travancore, SCTCE is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. It offers six undergraduate B.Tech streams—including CSE, ECE, Mechanical (with multiple streams), and Biotechnology—as well as M.Tech programs in Computer Science, Mechanical (Machine Design), and Signal Processing. Selected under TEQIP, it maintains strong government-industry linkages through partnerships with VSSC, DRDO, and IISc. With an intake of around 540 students annually, SCTCE features well-equipped labs, a digital library, and active NSS/IEDC chapters. Despite a lower placement rate (~35% in some years), recruiters include Cognizant, Bosch, TCS, and Wipro. SCTCE is best suited for academically diligent students seeking government-backed public engineering education in Kerala with a strong technical foundation.
