Established in 1991 by the Kerala government and affiliated with APJAKTU, RIT is a state-run engineering college located about 14 km from Kottayam on an 87-acre campus. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Civil, CSE, EEE, ECE, Mechanical, Robotics & Artificial Intelligence, and Architecture. With around 1,500 undergraduates and 300 postgraduates, the college features central labs, library, auditoriums, hostels, and IEEE branches. Student life includes technical and cultural events, plus outreach activities via social responsibility cells. Placements are functional through industry and PSU connections, especially in engineering and core firms. RIT is noted for its quiet suburban setting, steady infrastructure, and role in expanding public engineering access in central Kerala.
