Established in 2015 and designated an Institute of National Importance in 2016, IIT Palakkad is located in Kanjikode, Kerala. It began at a temporary campus and transitioned fully to a sprawling 500-acre permanent, eco-friendly campus by 2023. The institute offers B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, integrated M.S, and Ph.D. programs across disciplines like Computer Science & Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Data Science, and Sciences & Humanities. With around 1,000 students and over 120 faculty, IIT Palakkad promotes interdisciplinary learning, flexible curricula, and innovation labs such as AgriTech and a sanitation center of excellence. Ranked 64th in NIRF 2024 engineering, it is rapidly evolving. Placement records show about 90% of students placed; average packages around ₹10–12 LPA, with top offers around ₹40 LPA.
