IIIT Una began operations in 2014, initially in NIT Hamirpur’s campus under mentorship, and later moved to its own permanent site near Una, Himachal Pradesh. It was declared an Institute of National Importance in 2017. It offers B.Tech programs in CSE, ECE, and Information Technology. Admission is based on JEE Main and JoSAA counseling. The institute focuses on research collaboration with IITs and promotes student-led academic clubs and technical associations. Placement performance is commendable, with average packages around ₹10–12 LPA and highest reaching ₹20–25 LPA. Location in scenic Himachal makes for pleasant campus life, though students note early challenges in hostel capacity and infrastructure expansion, which are steadily improving.
