Founded in 2014 under the PPP model, IIIT Sonepat gained Institute of National Importance status in 2020. It initially operated from temporary campus facilities at NIT Kurukshetra and Shri Balwant Institute of Technology in Sonepat, with a permanent 50-acre campus under development. The institute offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), with emerging electives in AI, blockchain, and data science. Admission is through JEE Main via JoSAA/CSAB. Early placement records show strong results, with average packages around ₹14–15 LPA and highest offers reportedly reaching up to ₹40–52 LPA in recent seasons. Recruiters include top-tier firms such as Amazon, Deloitte, and Jio. While infrastructure continues to evolve, IIIT Sonepat is increasingly recognized for academic rigor, modern curriculum, and upward placement momentum.
