Established in 2018 under a Public‑Private Partnership model and declared an Institute of National Importance in 2020, IIIT Agartala is currently hosted within NIT Agartala’s campus while its planned 52‑acre permanent campus takes shape. It offers a single B.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering, with JEE Main admission via JoSAA. Despite its small size (roughly 300 students), placement figures are notable—highest packages have exceeded ₹60 LPA and average around ₹22 LPA in recent seasons. However, student reports point to very low participation in placements; in one batch, only about 20% enrolled in campus hiring. As a remote, newly established institute, it benefits from excellent early placement stats but still faces challenges in facilities, campus life, and scale of placements.
