Established in 1966 in collaboration with UNDP–UNESCO, NIFFT (now NIAMT) is a central technical university under India's Ministry of Education, located on a 65-acre campus in Ranchi. Its core focus areas include Foundry Engineering, Forge Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials & Metallurgical Engineering, and more recently Electronics & Computer Engineering. It offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs, along with consultancy and technology services. Initially created to support India’s metallurgical sector, NIAMT has expanded into broader manufacturing domains, hosting active research and development initiatives, national-level expert collaborations, and specialized labs. Graduates often enter core industries, research labs, and heavy engineering firms. As one of the few specialized institutes in foundry and forging, it plays a unique role in training skilled professionals for industrial and academic sectors.
