Indian Institute of Carpet Technology, Bhadohi

Established in 2001 under the Ministry of Textiles, IICT Bhadohi is Asia’s only specialized institute in carpet and textile technology. Affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, it offers a unique B.Tech in Carpet and Textile Technology (NBA-accredited) with integrated modules like Home Textile Technology and Textile Design. Spread across a 10-acre campus near Varanasi, the institute features NABL‑certified labs, design studios, a museum, computer facilities, conference hall, residential hostels, and design resources. IICT’s objectives span industry-relevant R&D, design bank creation, artisan training (8000+ trained), and technical support for the carpet sector. Students benefit from placement opportunities in major textile, weaving, and manufacturing firms such as Welspun and Obeetee. With focused academics and deep industry linkage, IICT serves as a niche center for innovation and skill development in carpet science and allied fields.
