JEE Main 2026: NTA Releases January Session Answer Key, Objections Open Till Feb 6

Overview
The National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main 2026 January session provisional answer key along with candidates’ response sheets. Students can review their answers and raise objections online until February 6, 2026. After reviewing all challenges, NTA will publish the final answer key and prepare the result, which is expected by February 12. Candidates are advised to verify their responses carefully before the objection deadline.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key and response sheets for the JEE Main 2026 January session on February 4. Candidates who appeared for Session 1 can now check their responses and compare them with the official answer key on the NTA websites — nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Students who find any discrepancy in the provisional key can raise objections online. The objection window will remain open until February 6 (11:50 pm). To challenge a question, candidates must pay a non-refundable fee of ₹200 per question and provide supporting proof.
Final Answer Key and Result Timeline
NTA has clarified that all challenges submitted by candidates will be reviewed by subject experts. If any objection is found valid, the answer key will be revised accordingly and applied to all candidates. After this review process, a final answer key will be published.
The agency has also confirmed that the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 result will be declared by February 12. The result will be prepared on the basis of the final answer key.
NTA noted that individual candidates will not be informed separately about whether their objection has been accepted or rejected. The decision taken by the expert panel on the final answer key will be treated as final.
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam was conducted between January 21 and January 29 in computer-based mode across multiple centres.
Marking Scheme Explained
The JEE Main question paper consists of two sections — Section A and Section B — in each subject.
Section A: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
Section B: Numerical value questions
Each correct answer carries 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect response in both sections. No marks are given for unanswered or marked-for-review questions.
If more than one option is correct in a question, full marks are awarded to candidates who select any of the correct options. If all options are correct, marks are given to everyone who attempted the question. In case a question is found incorrect or dropped, full marks are awarded to all candidates, regardless of whether they attempted it or not.
What Candidates Should Do Now
Students are advised to download their response sheets and carefully verify their answers before the objection deadline. Since the result will be based on the final answer key, this is the only opportunity to challenge any discrepancies.
With the result expected by February 12, the coming days will be crucial for candidates waiting to know their percentile scores and eligibility for the next stage, including JEE Advanced.
