Bombay High Court Will Hear The Plea To Relax 75% Eligibility Criteria On April 6

Overview

Bombay High Court Will Hear The Plea To Relax 75% Eligibility Criteria according to which students are required to secure at least 75% marks in their respective boards to take admissions in prestigious institutes like NITs, IIITs and CFTIs/GFTIs

Mumbai: Bombay High Court Will Hear The Plea To Relax 75% Eligibility Criteria On April 6. Earlier this year when NTA released its brochure for 2023 admissions to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs/CFTIs it brought back the 75% eligibility criteria according to which it is mandatory to score at least 75% marks in the Class 12 examination conducted by the respective Boards. Later on, JEE MAIN added that the top 20 percentile scorers category-wise in respective boards would also be eligible. For SC / ST / Pwd candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in Class 12 or the Qualifying examination. Apart from this candidates are required to secure passing marks in each subject.

A PIL had been filed in the Bombay high court to relax this criterion of 75% marks as it will impact lakhs of students who score very good marks in JEE Main but comparatively lower marks in class 12 boards.

The Bombay High Court finally decided to hear the plea on April 6, 2023.
